Feast on Fashion Luncheon: SARCA at the Elysian Hotel!

Brie and I had the pleasure to lunch with a fabulous group of ladies yesterday at Balsan.

The lunch benefitted Heartland Alliance, a non-profit organization assisting mothers in need, and featured a spring preview from SARCA.

Here are some of our favorite shots...

Born, Bread & Fabulous!

Are you currently following Born & Bread? If not, you should be! It is one of our favorites and it just so happens, we grew up with Julie. Both girls have such a natural sense of style, are drop dead gorgeous and are pretty witty too! Oh, and from the look of their blog, it looks like they love hot pink as much as we do. Basically, we are in love. So we decided to do a two-part "mash-up" with them. Julie wrote a fabulous post about LGS last week in case you missed it.

Whether you consider yourself "feminine and flirty" or "edgy and cool" Julie and Lauren always have good suggestions on how to work various trends into your look. See their post below on how to incorporate leopard into your wardrobe.

Stay fabulous ladies!

By Julie and Lauren

As part 2 of our blogger mash-up with Luxury Garage Sale, we decided to highlight how fun it can be by working with your best friend and partner! It's amazing to see how a simple trend can be interpreted in so many different ways from personal style to home decor and accessories.

We love this photo of Brie and Lindsay wearing leopard print shoes. The different silhouettes and funky prints totally speak to their personalities and persona's-- Lindsay is edgy and cool, Brie is flirty and feminine.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words...

We wanted in on the leopard fun, too!

Julie's Leopard Outfit- Flirty and Feminine

Pants: JCrew, Shirt: ALC: Wedges: Steve Madden, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Necklace: J Crew
"Nothing packs a punch more than leopard print mixed with brights. The crazy combo is a little bit retro and a whole lot of color-blocking, which makes it the perfect foray into the new season. The wide legs are the perfect transition piece for Spring."

Lauren's Leopard Outfit- Edgy and Cool

Dress: See by Chloe, Watch: Timex from J.Crew, Shoe: Chloe, Belt: Zara, Jacket: United Bamboo

"I love a slightly different version of the standard leopard print paired with army green. The combo is so 'African safari chic'. A more clunky shoe and an over-sized jacket paired with a cute silhouette is a great way to add some edge to an otherwise classic, cocktail dress. And of course, I love pattern mixing... hence the striped belt paired with the leopard dress."

How do you incorporate leopard into your wardrobe?

Golden Globe Trends!

The Golden Globes is the first major awards show of the season, and typically set the bar in terms of the kinds of fashion trends we will see over the next few months in the event packed award season.

Overall, I was less than thrilled with this season's trends.

Strapless and Mermaid? Yuck.

Deep V's? College?

Body covering sheaths? Show a little skin!

TREND 1: Almost every celebrity seemed to be wearing a strapless, bright colored mermaid gowns.

What bothered me so much about this cut was the straight across strapless neckline. Don't the stylists explain to their clients that sweetheart neckline is the only way to go when you are wearing strapless??

TREND 2: Deep Plunging Necklines. Reminiscent of my early college days.

TREND 3: Full Body Cover Up Sheath Dresses. This was the least offensive trend of all. But still, ladies, you are at an award show. Get a spray tan and show some skin...somewhere.

Until the next award show,

Lindsay

Golden Globes Red Carpet Review: En Fuego & No Go! ...

Last's night's red carpet brought out my inner Joan Rivers. The insane amount of eye candy had my head spinning so I decided to let it all out. If I reviewed every person I had thoughts on, this blog would go on for days. So I narrowed it down to just a few. We will break this into a two part series and comment on Red Carpet trends tomorrow.

So, here it is... my red carpet review. En Fuego & No Go! ...

En Fuego

Charlese Theron

Stunning in Dior Couture and Cartier museum jewels. Love the entire package. Hair, makeup, dress, jewels, love it all! She's flawless.

Sofia Vergara

She looks amazing. Love the mermaid dress, it's train and how it shows off her hot bod.

Claire Danes

Not only did she get to make out with Jordan Catalano but she kills it in Homeland and now, really kills it on the red carpet. I'm kind of obsessed with her. She is head to toe drop dead gorgeous in J. Mendel.

Emma Stone

I love her. That's all. Oh, and she's wearing Lanvin, which doesn't hurt.

Piper Perabo

This is suprisingly not too much. It works because while big, its light and sheer so its also delicate. She looks adorable.

I should also add, Salma Hayek looked AMAZING as well.

And The No Go's...

Zooey Deschanel

I'm sorry, I am just not into any of it. I kinda hate her hair and the Prada dress is not for me. This picture actually does her hair justice. During her E! red carpet interview I found myself screaming at the TV due to the rage caused by her hair.

Julie Bowen

Some may disagree with me on this one. I get what she is going for but I just don't think it works. I do not like her hair, her makeup looks like it was done by a mortuary cosmetologist and something about the sleeves on the dress bother me. Julie, I love you and Modern Family but tonight wasn't your best red carpet night.

Kyle Richards

Oy vey. Too much. Hair, makeup, that expression, necklace and dress. All just a bit too much. I'm a huge RHOBH fan and am almost always on team Kyle but not tonight.

And, I know many may not agree with this one but I was not into Angelina. Not at all.

And there it is.

Refinery + Net-A-Porter + LGS = True Love

We had the honor of attending an event hosted by Net-a-porter and Refinery 29 last night.

Yes, that's right, Refinery and Net-a-porter! We should probably frame the invite.

Excuse the photos, my iphone camera combined with bad lighting and an abundance of good conversation did not equate to quality photos.

Good people, good drinks (all named after designers (including Karl)) and GREAT gift bags made the night pretty fantabulous.

As expected, some of our favorite fashionistas were in attendance.

Thank you for including us Net-a-porter and Refinery 29!!
